Betty J.
Cousin
Jul 5, 1949 — Aug 28, 2026
Slidell
Betty Jean Cousin was born on July 5, 1949, in New Orleans, LA to the late Edward Ducree, Sr. and Hattie Ducree. Eight children were born to this union: six boys and two girls. She gained her heavenly wings and departed this earth on August 28, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. Betty accepted Christ at an early age and joined Little Union Baptist Church, where she began a lifelong journey of faith. Her relationship with God was an important part of who she was, and she carried that faith with her throughout her life. Her love for God, family, and others was evident in the way she lived and cared for those around her. Betty was a loving mother whose greatest joy was her sons. She dedicated her life to raising them, guiding them, and helping them become the amazing men they are today. She had a special gift for making people feel welcomed and cared for, and she truly loved talking with others and lending a helping hand whenever she could. Betty found happiness in the simple things, cooking for the people she loved, fishing, sharing conversations, and spending precious time with her boys. Her love was shown not only in her words, but in everything she did for her family. Her sons were her pride and joy, and the love she gave them will continue to live through the men they have become. Though she is no longer here, her laughter, kindness, wisdom, and unconditional love will remain in their hearts forever. A mother’s love never truly leaves us, it becomes a part of who we are. Betty will always be remembered for her vibrant spirit, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Her warm smile and nurturing heart touched everyone she encountered, and her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
Betty was preceded in death by her two brothers: Earnest Hinton and Charles Ducree; her grandson, Kyle Jayvon Cousin. Betty Jean Cousin leaves to cherish her memories two sons: Wilfred Jay (Alicia) Cousin of Arlington, TX and Kenneth (Lolita) Cousin of Slidell, LA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Abram; brothers: Lawrence (Romona) Ducree, Edward (Kathy) Ducree, Jr, Larry Ducree, and Lester Ducree; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
May the Lord strengthen and comfort the family during their time of bereavement.
