Sis. Janet Williams Clark was born on June 7, 1955, to the late Hezekiah and Mable Ellis. She departed this life on March 20, 2026. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother whose presence brought warmth, strength, and guidance to her family and all who knew her.
A devoted servant of faith and community, she faithfully served as the First Lady of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her legacy of leadership extended across many, having previously served as President of the Junior Mission Board at Starlight Missionary Baptist Church, Vice President of District Mission in St. Tammany Parish, and Vice President of Minister Wives and Widows of the Mount Zion District. A dynamic and engaging Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher, she shared God’s word at multiple churches with passion and wisdom.
Sis. Clark also lifted her voice in praise as a faithful member of the choir, singing alto and often being requested to bless the congregation with solos. Known for her impeccable style as a snazzy dresser and her gift as a captivating storyteller, she brought joy and inspiration wherever she went.
Beyond the church, she proudly served her community as an election official in St. Tammany Parish. Gifted with her hands, she was both a master seamstress and skilled welder by trade. She pursued education at Grace King High School, Delgado Community College, and Union Baptist Theological Seminary, equipping herself for a life of service, craftsmanship, and ministry.
Sis. Clark leaves to cherish her loving memories and carry out her legacy her husband, Pastor A.S. Clark Sr., Three sons: Courtney Burton (Damyra), Darius Burton, and Joseph Roberts Sr. (Johan). Two daughters; Aminisha Daniel and Renita Harris. Eight grandchildren; Courtney Sanford, Devin Lacrosse, Noah Gonzales, Joseph Roberts, Aleena Roberts, Gabriel Roberts, Charles Rodgers Jr., and Charleigh Rodgers. One great-grandchild; Kelani Van Brunt. One brother; Scott Ellis (Dinah). Four sisters; Celestine Davis (Lawrence), Hazel Ellis, Marva Fluence (Gary), and Terry Rodgers (Randy) and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Hezekiah and Mable Ellis. One daughter; Shameka M. Burton. One son; Alvin S. Clark Jr. Seven brothers; Frank, Hezekiah, Eric, Torrence, Kenneth, Mark Ellis, and Michael Williams. Two sisters; Lillie Mae and Gail E. Carter.
May the Lord strengthen and comfort the family during their time of bereavement.
