He was a kindhearted, resourceful, ingenious, boy who loved adventure! As a teen he loved cars and when he was finally able to own his very own car, he worked with meticulous persistence to repair, modify, and create an enviable "ride"; his favorite car, was a 1957 yellow convertible Austin Healy. Lonnie attended local schools and after graduating High School he entered the National Guard and was able to live in Michigan and the state of Washington for a time. Lonnie met and married "the love of his life' Miss Barbara Terrell and they had two beautiful daughters Regina and Tanya! Early in life, he gave his heart to the lord and later in life he felt God's call to ministry and became a Deacon at New Hope M.B.C. In 2001 they moved to Barbara's hometown Slidell, Louisiana. They joined Starlight M.B.C. and he became a Minister in the church.
He was involved in prison ministry, sick and shut-in (he would be at the hospital before the patient and stay with the family), and taught the gospel to anyone who would listen. He loved the "Lord's work. "After a battle with Parkinson's Disease, Lonnie faced every challenge with remarkable grace, courage, dignity, and unshakable faith. He met each day with the same quiet strength that guided his life. In the end, he finished his journey surrounded by love and held firmly in God's hands.
