Roosevelt Harry, was born April 12, 1919, to the late Simmer Harry and the late Mary Ella Brown in Sandy Hook, MS. On October 19, 2021, Roosevelt Harry a WWII Veteran received his place in his father's kingdom. He leaves to cherish his memories three children, Latricia Phillips, Roosevelt Lewis, Lisa Turner, six grandchildren, Alvin, India, Jules, Holliegh, Elizabeth, Olivia and nine great grandchildren. His longtime companion Hazel Lewis Washington. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Corrine and Alberta, and two brothers, Willie and Leslie and his daughter LaDorne Lewis. He has a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be sadly missed by close friends and neighbors from Dallas, Texas and the 7th Ward. He served three years active duty in the United States Army and was a Military Police Officer and served in World War II. He sold newspapers for the Times Picayune for many years. Mr. Roosevelt as he was well known, was a hard worker and dedicated father who spent years working and providing for his family. Whenever you saw Mr. Roosevelt, he was either on his way to work or coming from work. He was highly respected by his friends, neighbors, employers, and colleagues. Mr. Roosevelt loved the Saints, and was an avid baseball fan, his favorite teams were the New Orleans Zephyrs and the Texas Rangers. Roosevelt was a gentleman and a loving father. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, he knew each and every one of them. He will be remembered most for his thoughtfulness, always putting everybody else first. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving, he loved to eat and enjoy time with his family. Roosevelt lived a good long healthy life and will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of relatives. Family, friends, and neighbors are all invited to celebrate the homegoing of Roosevelt Harry on November 1, 2021 at SE Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive, Slidell, Louisiana, 70460. Service starts at 11:00am. Guest are strongly encouraged to wear masks.
